About
Tucked just outside Tenby in Pembrokeshire, Penally Beach is a quieter bit of coast where you and your dog can stretch your legs without all the buzz of the more tourist-heavy spots. Itโs part of the bigger stretch known as Tenby South Beach, but Penallyโs the bit that feels more like a local secret, easy-going, with wide sands and fewer distractions.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are allowed on Penally Beach all year round. Be respectful and pick up after your dog, and youโll be good to go.
Things To See & Do
The beach is a mix of sand and shingle but is protected by sand dunes and Giltar Point headland.
Thereโs something about how the dunes roll into the beach here, theyโre scruffy and windswept in the best way. You can walk along the beach into Tenby if youโve got the legs for it. Itโs a 30-minute walk, maybe more with stops, but your dogโll love every bit. Bring water for them as there’s not much shade, and it can get hot on their paws mid-day.
Access and Facilities
You can get to Penally Beach by parking in the Penally Station car park. A path behind the golf course leads straight to the beach. It’s a bit of a walk, but nothing too mad.
The train station at Penally is tiny, but trains do stop there. A pub in the village, The Cross Inn, lets dogs in and does a decent pint. There are no public toilets on the beach, but some are near the station. Dog waste bins are thin on the ground, so bring bags and be prepared to carry them out if you have to.
