About
The southwestern tip of the Isle of Man has some great landscapes to explore and makes an ideal dog walkers’ destination on the island.
You have Spanish Head which rises to 100 m from sea level, and here you have great views out over to the Calf of Man, which is separated from the mainland by a narrow strait of water called the Calf of Sound.
A little further to the north, you have The Chasms, where the sea cliffs have eroded to create what appear to be large blocks separated by deep crevices.
The sea cliffs around this stretch of Isle of Man coastline are the breeding ground for thousands of sea birds, and depending on the time of the year, you may spot Guillemots or Razorbills that come and nest on the cliffs.
This area can be dangerous with hidden crevices and cliffs, and it is advised to keep dogs on a lead and dress prepared for uneven ground.
The visitor centre and cafe overlooking the Calf of Sound do not allow dogs, so you must take away or have a picnic.
