About
Visiting Stowe with your dog is a wonderful idea, especially if you enjoy exploring expansive landscapes, magnificent gardens, and historical architecture together. Stowe, located near Buckingham in Buckinghamshire, is famous for its beautiful Stowe Gardens, which are part of the National Trust. These gardens are renowned for their classical landscapes and picturesque views, making them a delightful destination for human and canine visitors.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are welcome on leads throughout the garden, parkland, shop, and Parlour Rooms. Assistance dogs are only allowed in the cafe, although dogs are also allowed in all outdoor cafe seating areas and the indoor seating area in the corridor next to the main cafe.
Stowe organises monthly dog walks, which are perfect for dogs and owners to mix.
Things To See & Do
The main attraction at Stowe is the gardens, some of England’s most significant landscaped gardens. They cover a couple of hundred acres and include an array of classical temples, bridges, monuments, and lakes designed in the 18th century. The gardens are perfect for leisurely walks, with broad avenues and hidden pathways to explore.
The 18th-century landscape garden has grass framed by trees, temples, monuments and shrubs, and stretches of water. Whilst the parkland includes grand avenues, secluded woods and monuments dot the parkland with areas created by ‘Capability’ Brown.
You and your dog can choose various walking routes, depending on how far you both want to walk. The paths are well-maintained and suitable for walkers of all abilities.
Access and Facilities
Stowe is easily accessible by car, and a large National Trust car park is available. From the car park, you’ll take a pleasant walk to the New Inn visitor centre, where you can access the gardens.
The New Inn at the garden entrance offers toilet facilities and a cafe for refreshments. There are outdoor seating areas where dogs are welcome.
