About
Warren Beach at Hartland Quay, situated on the rugged coastline of North Devon, is a stunning destination known for its dramatic scenery and fascinating geological formations. For dog owners, Hartland Quay offers an out-of-season opportunity to explore one of the most picturesque spots in the South West of England. Here’s a comprehensive guide to visiting Warren Beach with your furry companion.
Dog Access and Rules
This is an off season beach as dogs are not allowed on the beach from 1st April to 31st October.
Things To See & Do
Nestled along the Hartland Peninsula, Warren Beach is part of the larger Hartland Abbey Estate. The area is renowned for its wild beauty, featuring striking cliffs, rocky shores, and a sense of remote tranquillity. The beach is composed of a mix of sand and pebbles, surrounded by rugged rock formations that the Atlantic Ocean has shaped over millennia. Hartland Quay is not just a natural marvel; it also holds historical charm with remnants of the old quay.
The beach offers a spacious area for dogs to run, play, and explore. The mix of sandy stretches and pebbly/rock sections provides varied terrain that can be both stimulating and enjoyable for dogs. At low tide, the beach reveals larger expanses of sand and rock pools.
Hartland is a convenient location for walking parts of the South West Coast Path. The wild coastal scenery around the point is some of the most dramatic on the path, and there are excellent views across to Lundy Island.
