About
Putsborough Sands is a stunning beach destination on Devon’s northern coastline. It is located between the bustling resort of Woolacombe and the charming village of Croyde. The beach’s sweeping sands and dramatic cliffs make it a popular destination.
Dog Access and Rules
Putsborough Sands is a favourite for pet owners year-round. Unlike many beaches with strict seasonal restrictions, Putsborough welcomes dogs all year, albeit with minor restrictions. On the beach’s southern end, to your left, as you go down the steps from the car park, dogs are prohibited from May 1 to September 30, while the rest, which is nearly 2 miles long, allows off-lead all around.
Thus, we say restrictions, but you don’t have to worry.
Things To See & Do
Putsborough isn’t just another seaside spot; it’s a haven for those seeking a peaceful beach destination with their dog. Its year-round dog-friendly access, pristine sands, and spectacular coastal views set it apart. The vast expanse of sand at low tide offers miles of beach for a stroll or a game of fetch. You also get some lovely views out to Lundy Island.
Access and Facilities
Reaching Putsborough Sands is straightforward, but part of the charm lies in its tucked-away location. Follow signs for Woolacombe and then Croyde. A narrow, scenic lane leads to the beach, where a private car park is available.
Despite its tranquil setting, Putsborough doesn’t skimp on essential amenities. The car park is conveniently close to the beach and has clean, well-maintained toilets on-site. Hungry after a day of walks or play? The beach cafe serves hot drinks, ice cream, and light bites, and it has outdoor seating perfect for visiting with dogs.
You also have a small touring caravan site beside the beach.
