About
Woolacombe Beach is a two-mile stretch of golden sand, a family favourite. The beach has zoned areas to separate swimmers from other water users.
Woolacombe Beach is dog-friendly but has some seasonal restriction zones you need to be aware of:
- Dogs are not allowed between the rocks at the north end of the beach and the stream from Good Friday or 1st April until 30th September.
- Dogs must be on leads South of the stream until Mill Rock from the 1st of May to the 30th of September.
- South of Mill Rock, dogs are allowed all year without restriction.
Facilities at the beach include toilets, parking, a lifeguard in the summer, a cafe, a shop and disabled facilities.
You also have two small beaches within walking distance of Woolacombe: Barricane Beach is a small sand beach with rocks which allows dogs between October and April, but they must be on a lead between May and September. The slightly larger and sandy Combesgate Beach does not allow dogs during May and September.
