Visiting Hive Beach in Dorset with your dog is a great idea if you’re looking for a scenic coastal outing. Located near the charming village of Burton Bradstock, Burton Hive Beach is part of the Jurassic Coast, known for its stunning cliffs and fossil-rich shoreline.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are welcome on Burton Hive Beach, but there are seasonal restrictions to be aware of. From 1 June to 30 September, dogs are not permitted on the main beach directly in front of the cafe). If you wish to access the beach with your dog, you will need to put them on lead and walk along the beach East past the wooden chalet towards Cogden and Portland Island.
Please also keep your dog on a lead between 1 March and 31 July when ground-nesting birds are trying to rear their young.
Things To See & Do
The beach is renowned for its dramatic cliffs and stretches of golden sand, offering picturesque views and plenty of space for beach activities.
As part of the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Burton Hive Beach is an excellent spot for fossil hunting and exploring geological history.

Access and Facilities
Parking is available near the beach, including a car park operated by the National Trust. The beach is easily accessible via a short walk from the parking area.
Basic facilities are available, including toilets and a dog-friendly cafe near the beach, where you can grab a snack or a drink.
