Musselburgh, just a short drive from Edinburgh, its beach, Fisherrow Sands, has two main sandy stretches welcoming to dogs spanning either side of the tidal harbour: Fisherrow East Beach and Fisherrow West Beach.

Fisherrow East Beach stretches from Fisherrow Harbour to the mouth of the River Esk. This sandy beach provides ample space for dogs to run and play. It’s a popular spot for walkers and offers scenic views over the Firth of Forth.
Fisherrow West Beach is situated on the opposite side of the harbour. This smaller, sandy beach is also dog-friendly. It’s a quieter option for those seeking a more peaceful outing.
Access and Facilities
Fisherrow Sands is easily accessible by car, just off the A1 and a short drive (8 km, 5 miles) from Edinburgh. Parking is available at Fisherrow Harbour and in nearby car parks, making it convenient for a day trip. If you’re using public transport, there are regular bus routes from Edinburgh to Musselburgh, with a stop within walking distance of the beach.
