About
Located on the Kent coast, Ramsgate is known for its sands and vibrant harbour. The town has a rich maritime history, and in the Victorian era, Ramsgate became a popular seaside retreat, drawing visitors with its elegant promenades and distinctive architecture.
Dog Access and Rules
Ramsgate beaches are dog-friendly with some seasonal restrictions. Main Sands Beach allows dogs from October to April, allowing you to enjoy the beach without the summer crowds.
You have two all-year-round options.ย Head away from the harbour on the main sands toย East Cliff Beach or go to the other side of the harbour, which hasย year-round access to Western Undercliff Beach.
Things To See & Do
In the peak season, you do have less sand as the main beach is out of bounds. But still, your dog can run along the sand and splash in the sea at East Cliff Beach or Western Undercliff anytime. Both offer quieter beaches away from the seasonal restrictions of the main resort.
An alternative is to go for a good dog walk. The Viking Coastal Trail is a scenic route stretching from Ramsgate towards Broadstairs and beyond. This walk provides breathtaking views of the coastline, along with benches and picnic spots to stop for a rest.
Access and Facilities
Ramsgate is well-connected, with easy access by both car and public transport. The town has ample parking near the beaches and throughout the town centre. Ramsgate train station is within walking distance of the beaches, and buses frequently run between Ramsgate and nearby towns, so reaching the area is convenient whether youโre travelling locally or from afar.
Ramsgate offers a range of shops, cafes and pubs that welcome dogs within easy access to the seafront.
