About
Hest Bank Beach is located near the village of Hest Bank, a charming coastal spot just north of Morecambe and south of Carnforth. The beach looks out onto Morecambe Bay, one of the largest tidal flats in the UK, famous for its dramatic tidal changes.
Dog Access and Rules
Hest Bank Beach is dog-friendly all year round! With no seasonal restrictions, your dog can enjoy the beach regardless of the time of year.
A word of caution: do not go out onto the saltmarsh or inter-tidal area, as there are dangerous channels and quicksand.
Things To See & Do
Hest Bank Beach is a sandy beach within Morecambe Bay, backed by a grassy area. With its wide-open spaces and sandy flats, Hest Bank Beach is perfect for a stroll or a game of fetch with your dog. The beach is expansive, and you’ll have even more room to explore at low tide, although be careful of tide movement and soft terrain underfoot.
The sandflats and saltmarshes form the Morecambe Bay Hest Bank RSPB reserve.
Access and Facilities
Hest Bank Beach is easy to access from nearby towns and cities. If you’re travelling by car, the beach is just off the A6, with a small car park available near the level crossing in Hest Bank village. For those using public transport, it is served by local bus routes connecting it with Morecambe and Lancaster, so you can reach the beach without driving. Once there, the beach is only a short walk from the village, making it easy to find and enjoy.
Although facilities at Hest Bank Beach are limited, there is a small cafe with outdoor seating by the car park.
