About
Tucked away in Leicestershire, Conkers is part of The National Forest, a mix of woods, paths, scrubby grassland, and the occasional pond. It’s near Moira, in an area that was once dominated by coal, but is now slowly being reclaimed by nature, with trees taking their course. As a dog-friendly destination, it’s a mixed bag. There’s plenty of space, although it’s a bit busy around the Discovery Centre; it has a few quiet corners where your dog can let off steam.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs aren’t allowed inside the Conkers Discovery Centre. That said, the rest of the park’s trails and the surrounding woodland areas are open to walkers and their dogs, provided they are kept under control.
Access and Facilities
If you’re driving, there’s a big car park right outside the main entrance to Conkers. Facilities-wise, it’s decent enough. Toilets on-site near the visitor centre, bins are dotted about, there’s a cafe at the centre but again, not dog-friendly inside, though they do have a few tables outside where you can perch with a cup of tea.
