About
The Flying Childers is tucked away in the quiet Leicestershire countryside, just outside Melton Mowbray, a town known for pork pies, Stilton cheese, and an old-school charm that hasnโt been polished away. Whether youโre just after a quick pint or a proper meal, itโs got that relaxed, local feel where you wonโt be questioned for bringing a muddy dog in.
The menus span the whole day and are family-friendly, from breakfast buffets to lunch and evening, and there are always some specials.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are welcome inside the pub and in the beer garden with a heated patio. Water bowls are provided, and thereโs no separate dog menu or anything fancy, but if you ask nicely, theyโll usually rustle up a little treat. Some areas of the dining space may be off-limits for dogs during busy times, so if youโre planning a sit-down meal, itโs worth calling ahead.
Things To See & Do
Melton Mowbray is a solid choice for a dog-friendly day out. The town is small but has a good mix of old buildings, local shops, and cafes that donโt mind dogs tagging along. Thereโs also the Melton Country Park, which is about 10 minutes away and a good shout if you want a quick stroll before heading for a pint.
Bradgate Park is about a 25-minute drive and well worth it. There is plenty of space for your dog to run, deer roam about, and some old ruins to look at.
