Skegness Holiday Park sits on the Lincolnshire coast, not far from the town itself. It’s a classic seaside escape with arcades, donkeys, and chip shops. But what makes it worth it for us, with dogs? Itโs simple. Space, sea air, and the sort of relaxed feel that makes life just a bit easier when youโre travelling with a dog.
Along with most of the Haven holiday parks, Skegness welcomes dogs with open arms. Dogs are permitted throughout the park's outdoor areas and on the outdoor restaurant terrace.
Skegness itself is all old-school seaside. You'll see the tower, the pier, the same fish and chip shops your gran probably went to. It's not flashy, but that's part of the charm. Walk a few minutes and you'll find quieter bits of beach your dog can go wild on. Officially, the main central beach has summer dog restrictions, but if you head north or south, there are miles of beaches where dogs can run free. No signs, no wardens, just sand and sea. A bit of common sense and you'll be fine.
Gibraltar Point Nature Reserveย is only 10 minutes by car. It's lovely, proper wildlife, long quiet paths with loads of smells. Stick to the paths, though, as they don't love it if your dog goes bouncing into bird nesting areas, and the beach has some seasonal restrictions.
Walk-wise, the coast path's got some great bits near Ingoldmells and Chapel St Leonards. Not too busy and mostly flat. You'll pass some oddball sculptures and beach huts that look like they've seen better days.
There's a good mix of caravans and touring park pitches. There's also a decent shop, takeaway food options and a restaurant where dogs are not allowed inside, but they've outdoor seating if the weatherโs not too bad.
Skegness is easily accessible. If you're driving, it's straight up the A52 or A158, depending on which way you're coming in. Just be warned that the last bit of road into town gets clogged in summer.
If you're coming by train, the station's about a 10 to 15-minute walk from the park.
