Things To See & Do
Lister Park is a stone’s throw from Bradford city centre. This Victorian-era park is steeped in history. In 1870, Samuel Lister sold his family home, Manningham Hall, once part of the Manningham Mills estate, to Bradford Corporation. The land was sold at a discount on the condition that it be used to make a public park. At this time, the name was changed from Manningham Park to Lister Park. Its iconic Mughal Water Gardens, grand statues, and sprawling lawns reflect the era’s architectural ambition and cultural blend.
Lister Park offers plenty of opportunities for dogs to stretch their legs and owners to unwind. You can walk along the park’s well-maintained paths, around the boating lake and open grass spaces, and enjoy the flower and botanical gardens and peaceful water features.
While exploring, see if you can tick off all the statues dotted around the park, including The Stag and Diana and Peter Pan.
The park is home to the Cartwright Hall Art Gallery, which unfortunately does not allow dogs.
