We’ve added something new to MyPAWfectPlace to help plan a day out with your dog.
You’ll now see tide times on each beach guide, just below the weather forecast.
Why this matters
If you’ve ever arrived at a beach with your dog and found little sand, you know how important this is.
It’s not only about dog-friendly beaches.
It’s about space for your dog to enjoy, and so often, that comes down to the tide.
At low tide, a beach feels open and calm. At high tide, the space can shrink a lot.
That difference matters. Especially when you’re walking with your dog.
What you’ll see

On beach pages, you’ll now find:
- Up-to-date tide times for today and the next six days, just as you do with our weather forecasts.
- Tide times and heights are from the nearest port with a tidal station.
- For each day, you get the time of high and low tides.
- For each high or low tide, the tide height shows how much the water will rise or fall at that time. These are measured in metres, helping you see how the beach will change throughout the day. For example, a lower tide height means there will be more sand and more space for your dog to run and play. If you see a high tide with a large tide height, the water will come up higher on the beach, leaving less space. Checking these numbers makes it easy to pick the best time for your walk.
- A clearer sense of when to visit for the most space and more confidence when planning your walk. For example, check for mid- to low-tide if your dog loves running on sand, so you can make the most of the open space.
It’s a small addition that can change your beach experience.
Built around real experiences
We created this after experiencing the issue ourselves during our visit to Southwold last week.
We turned up to what should have been a beautiful beach walk, only to realise all that was available was a steep pebble bank and no sand.
It makes a big difference, especially with a dog.
So we wanted to make it easier. Simpler. More predictable.
So when you arrive, you can just enjoy.
What’s next
You’ll now find tide times on most beach pages on our website and in our mobile apps, just below the weather forecast. Tide times are available for the majority of beaches in our guides, but there are some locations where tide data is currently unavailable. If a beach does not have tide information, we’ll let you know on that page, so you always know exactly where to look for the latest tide information and have that extra context when planning your next beach walk.
The best dog walks aren’t just about where you go. It’s how it feels when you arrive.
Take a look at your next beach walk on MyPAWfectPlace, download our UK Dog-Friendly Travel Guide Mobile Apps and plan around the tide.
Have you used the new tide times feature to make your beach day even better? We’d love to hear about your favourite tide-timed adventures or any tips you have for fellow dog walkers. Share your stories with us and help build a community of dog-lovers enjoying the coast together.
🐾 Happy exploring with your pup!
