Crantock Beach

Crantock beach is a dog-friendly beach to the south of Newquay in Cornwall. The beach is on the south bank of the Gannel estuary and has sand dunes backing a wide sandy beach with easy access. The tidal river Gannel enters the sea at the northern end of the beach, so beware of strong currents and rips.

Some good dog walking opportunities nearby as the estuary has good wildlife and you have Rushy Green, a grassy plateau behind the sand dunes that has a path system.

Nearby Crantock (approx. 2 miles) is a picturesque village with a selection of art and craft shops, a tea room, couple of pubs, separated from the busy tourist town of Newquay by the River Gannel.

You can reach Crantock beach from Newquay town centre via the foot ferry which operates in the summer months. This should take 45 – 60 mins.

The beach has a National Trust car park with toilets, a kiosk offering drinks and light snacks and seasonal lifeguard patrols.
