Humberston Fitties Beach

Humberston Fitties Beach or just Fitties Beach is at the south end of the long stretch of sand at Cleethorpes in Lincolnshire at the mouth of the Humber Estuary. This dog-friendly beach is backed by sand dunes and a path along the top of the sea defence that runs the entire length of the beach.

The area is attractive as behind the beach, you have an area of unique chalets made from whatever was available, like old railway carriages. You also have just out to sea two sand forts, built initially during WWI but then used during WWII as protection for shipping entering and leaving the estuary. The fort furthest out is Bull Sand Fort and the closer one is Haile Sand Fort.

At the south end of the beach, you have Tetney Marsh Nature Reserve, which has a selection of paths running through the marshes and ponds, although your dogs will need to be on a lead.

Fritties beach is a very popular kitesurfing location.

The beach is an excellent alternative to the busy promenade in Cleethorpes. although it has no facilities, you do have a small car park on Anthony’s Bank Road.
