Portwrinkle is a small fishing village on the western side of Whitsand Bay in Cornwall. This was once a busy harbour supporting the pilchard industry but is now a tourist destination with cliffs, good coastal walks, and coves to explore.

You have three beaches based around the harbour; to the west of the harbour is the sandy crescent of Hoodny Cove, and to the east, the quirkily named Finnygook Beach, whilst the third appears when the tide is out, and you get sand within the harbour itself.

Finnygook Beach, Hoodny Cove and Portwrinkle Harbour beaches do not allow dogs between 10 am and 6 pm during the summer of 1st July and 31st August.

The facilities sit behind Finnygook Beach, where you have a car park, toilets and a cafe.

Portwrinkle is a great starting point if you are interested in a small coast path walk, then you have more options to explore small dog-friendly coves, westwards beyond Hoodny Cove with Britain Cove or further to Eglarooze Beach and Beak’s Horn Beach. You have Harry’s Ball Beach, Skinner’s Ball Beach, and Oldhouse Cove eastwards.
