About
Visiting Cei Bach Beach with your dog is a great idea if you’re seeking a peaceful and scenic spot along the coast of West Wales. Cei Bach Beach, located near New Quay in Ceredigion, is known for its tranquillity, beautiful sands, and clear waters, making it an ideal destination for a relaxing day out with your furry friend.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are welcome on Cei Bach Beach throughout the year. There are no seasonal restrictions, making it a fantastic choice for visits at any time.
Things To See & Do
Cei Bach is known for being quieter than the more popular beaches in the area, such as those in New Quay itself. This makes it perfect for dog owners looking for a less crowded environment.
Cei Bach means “Small Quay” in Welsh and so the beach is also known as Little Quay.
The beach features fine sand and gentle slopes into the water, which are ideal for dogs who enjoy swimming or playing in the sand.
The beach offers beautiful views across Cardigan Bay and is often less windy than other nearby beaches, providing a serene setting for relaxation and leisurely walks.
Access and Facilities
You can walk from New Quay and, when the tide is out, then the beach rather than the coast path. If you do want to drive then there is a small car park in the woods near Llanina church and walk a couple of hundred metres along a path by the stream to the beach. It’s advisable to arrive early to secure a spot.
Facilities at Cei Bach are minimal, so plan to bring what you need for the day, including water, snacks, and dog waste bags. There are no shops or cafes directly on the beach, but New Quay, with its wider range of amenities, is only a short drive away.
