About
Clarach Bay is a sand and shingle beach to the north of Aberystwyth. This westerly-facing beach is sheltered by shale cliffs on either side and split in two by the Clarach River. You do have a bridge over the river, giving easy access to both sections.
Dogs can access Clarach Bay Beach north of the bridge throughout the year. Between May 1st and September 30th, dogs are prohibited south of the river between the bridge and the cliff bottom.
The north section, which is dog-friendly, has rocky crags with rock pools.
Clarach Bay is connected to Aberystwyth by a mile-long coast path over Constitution Hill that offers outstanding views across Cardigan Bay on clear days.
Facilities include limited parking, summer lifeguards, shop and food outlets.
