About
Penmaenmawr Beach, nestled near Conwy along the North Wales coast, is often overlooked by visitors, who favour the beaches at Llandudno or to the west of Conwy. The beach offers views of Anglesey, with the Carneddau mountain range providing a dramatic backdrop.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are welcome year-round, although Penmaenmawr Beach has some seasonal zone restrictions. Between 1 May and 30 September, dogs are not allowed on the main beach between the sailing club slipway and the promenade cafe. You and your dog have all-year space to explore; follow local signs to avoid seasonal restricted areas.
Things To See & Do
Penmaenmawr Beach has expansive sands at low tide, making it a haven for dogs who love to run, play and splash in the sea. At high tide, the sand disappears, and all you have is pebbles, but this is where the promenade comes in, offering a path perfect for strolls with your dog.
Access and Facilities
Penmaenmawr is conveniently located off the A55 Expressway. From junction 16, clear signage leads through the village to the beach, and parking is near the promenade. The village’s railway station is a short walk from the beach. Regular services connect to Bangor, Llandudno, and beyond. Local bus services also stop in the village, providing easy access for public transport users.
