About
Breakwater Beach in St. Ives, Cornwall, is dog-friendly but hardly visited, partly because it is only accessible at low tide. It is an excellent option if Bamaluz Beach is busy and the tide is out.
The beach is divided by a boat-launching area, where, at low tide, the boat trips load. To one side, you have a large area of flat sand where your dog can run, play, and splash. The other is rocky, where dogs can enjoy all the smells.
When the tide is in, a dog has no beach to run, but the small pier and slope make this a good (human) swimming beach. There are also plenty of promenade areas to sit, including some covered areas.
Dog Access and Rules
Breakwater Beach is dog-friendly all year round, but is only available for a short time window at the tide’s lowest point.
Access and Facilities
You have car parking and facilities within St Ives, and access to the beach is available down a slope from Smeaton’s Pier, with some steps involved.
