About
This is a very rugged stretch of coast with a few coves and is excellent for dog walks. However, Fox Cove, being the largest, is the only cove accessible, although this is a challenging descent.
Fox Cove is the larger of a collection of coves located near Padstow in Cornwall. The coves starting north at Treyarnon Bay are Wine Cove, Pepper Cove, Warren Cove, Fox Cove, Rowan Cove, Long Cove and Porthcothan Beach.
Dog-friendly Fox Cove Beach is sandy and has some fascinating rock formations that divide it into two, but at high tide, the beach all but disappears.
You can make out the “SS Hemsley I” wreckage at low tide levels, a steam tanker that hit the rocks at Fox Cove in May 1969.
Dog Access and Rules
This is an excellent area for dog walking, and the beach at Fox Cove is dog-friendly. Just be very careful, as this is a wild stretch of coastline, and the cliff edges can be unstable.
Access and Facilities
Fox Cove has no facilities and this is a coastal walk with access and parking at either Treyarnon Bay in the north or Porthcothan Beach to the south.
