About
Tregantle Beach is huge, hence it is also known as Long Sands. The beach is a wild-feeling stretch of sand on the Rame Peninsula, backed by high cliffs and dunes and popular with dog walkers who like plenty of space. It feels more like a “proper” coastal adventure than a resort beach, so it suits those looking for a more exposed, natural setting.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are allowed on Tregantle Beach all year.
Things To See & Do
Long Sands or Tregantle Beach is a section in the long stretch of sand and rocks of Whitsand Bay. When the tide is out, you have a very large beach, but at high tide, only a small area of sand remains under the cliffs.
The beach is within a “Danger Area” below Tregantle Fort. When the red flags are flying, it indicates that the firing ranges above the cliffs are in use and the beach is closed to the public.
Access and Facilities
You have a small car park and lay-by by the fort or people park on the road opposite. You then have a short walk through the MoD property and down the cliffs to the beach.
There are no facilities at the beach other than seasonal lifeguards.
