About
Portwrinkle is a small fishing village on the western side of Whitsand Bay in Cornwall. This was once a busy harbour supporting the pilchard industry, but it is now a tourist destination with cliffs, good coastal walks, and coves to explore.
You have three beaches based around the harbour; to the west of the harbour is the sandy crescent of Hoodny Cove, and to the east, the quirkily named Finnygook Beach, whilst the third appears when the tide is out, and you get sand within the harbour itself.
Dog Access and Rules
Finnygook Beach, Hoodny Cove and Portwrinkle Harbour beaches do not allow dogs between 10 am and 6 pm during the summer from 1st July to 31st August.
Things To See & Do
Portwrinkle is a great starting point for a short coastal path dog walk, where you have more options to explore small dog-friendly coves, westwards beyond Hoodny Cove with Britain Cove or further to Eglarooze Beach and Beak’s Horn Beach. You have Harry’s Ball Beach, Skinner’s Ball Beach, and Oldhouse Cove eastwards.
Access and Facilities
The facilities are located behind Finnygook Beach, where you have a car park, toilets, and a cafe.
