Porthcothan Bay beach is a sandy dog-friendly beach with a small shallow stream dividing the beach in two.  The beach is sheltered by sand dunes and craggy headlands and at low tide, there are rock pools, although at high tide you only have the dunes.

Facilities at Porthcothan Bay include toilets, a shop and car parking set back from the beach in the village.
