About
Askam-in-Furness beach is a long dog-friendly sandy beach stretching north and south away from Askam-in-Furness. As you head northwards into the estuary, the beach is backed by dunes and marshes. You can also head southwards, where the beach joins Roanhead Beach and the Sandscale Haws reserve.
The area was a significant iron ore mining location, and today you can see the unusual pier built from the slag from the old ironworks.
Limited parking in the village but a few car parks to the north.
