About
Siddick Ponds Nature Reserve is a protected area, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), and a Local Nature Reserve (LNR) south of the village.
The extensive reedbed and two large ponds, one freshwater and the other a tidal saltwater lagoon, support a wide range of species and are unique in Cumbria, attracting birds year-round. You can’t walk all the way around them but you do have a path between.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are welcome at Siddick Ponds Nature Reserve, but as this is a nature reserve, please keep them under close control.
Access and Facilities
The site has two entrances, one at Dunmail Park and the other at Iggesund Paperboard, with a large bird hide at each. A cycle path with excellent viewing points runs alongside the reserve.
