About
Port Logan Bay has a dog-friendly sandy beach in a sheltered cove next to the small village of Port Logan. Sometimes referred to as Port Nessock, which was its former name.
The old harbour to the south of the bay is protected by a short stone/rock pier, and the structure on the end, now disused, was originally a small lighthouse. The old pier is a popular fishing spot, whilst the sheltered cove attracts many watersports, including windsurfing, canoeing and water skiing.
To the north of the bay, cut into the cliffs, is Port Logan Fish Pond, a Marine Life Centre. Access is through an arch in an unusual white cottage with castellations and arrow slits. Dogs on leads are allowed at the fish pond. The main 50ft diameter fish pool is accessed via steps cut into the rock of the shoreline. The centre has a gift shop selling locally produced arts and crafts, fishing tackle, and bait.
Facilities at the bay and beach include a few options for car parking, either beside the harbour, in the middle of the bay or at the Fish Pond. This is a remote village and you have no facilities in the village other than car parking and toilets.
