About
Thornwick Bay is a beautiful bay on the Flamborough Head coastline near Bridlington.
The beach offers a mix of sand, shingle, and rock pools that change with the tide. At low tide, there’s much more room to roam, and your dog will love padding about between the pools, sniffing out new scents, and scrambling over the rock shelves. At high tide, the water pushes right up to the base of the cliffs, so it’s worth checking tide times before you go.
You also have the smaller bay of Little Thornwick Bay, where it is possible to walk between both beaches at low tide.
The Flamborough headland around here is full of caves, and although the beach has a spectacular setting, many people visit not just for the beach and rock pools but also to enjoy the cliff-top walks. The cliffs around the bay are home to seabirds, and you’ll often see fulmars, kittiwakes, and the odd puffin in season.
