About
Orchards Holiday Village sits on the Essex coast at Point Clear, near Brightlingsea and Clacton-on-Sea. The holiday park is located directly on St Osyth Beach, which is a mix of sand and pebble beach that allows dogs all year round.
Dog Access and Rules
Orchards Holiday Village welcomes dogs with open arms! There’s a dog-friendly beach and restaurant terrace, as well as nearby areas to walk. You can even take well-behaved dogs into designated areas of the main restaurant.
What's On Offer
The caravans are relatively standard, comfy enough, clean, with what you need to get through a rainy afternoon. Some of the dog-friendly ones are closer to the grassy areas, which helps for morning walks.
This is a real family site with indoor and outdoor pools, fishing lakes, a golf course, a climbing wall, kids’ play areas, and organised activities. There’s a shop on-site, and there are plenty of options to get something to eat.
Things To See & Do
Clacton-on-Sea beach is about 15 minutes away, and it’s dog-friendly out of season (October to April). In summer, dogs aren’t allowed on some of the main bits of beach, but nearby Jaywick Sands is dog-friendly, way more relaxed and not as busy.
You can also walk along the sea wall towards St Osyth. It’s flat, decent underfoot, and has those proper salty sea smells that dogs love.
There is also a dog-friendly ferry that takes you from Point Clear to either Brightlingsea or East Mersea, offering more options for the beach, shops, dining, and dog walks.
Access and Facilities
It’s pretty easy to get to, about 25 minutes off the A12, down some country roads. Parking’s free and you can park right next to your caravan, which makes unloading your dog’s entire wardrobe of coats, beds and toys a lot easier.
There’s a bus stop right outside the park entrance if you’re coming in without a car, but I wouldn’t recommend relying on buses unless you enjoy long waits and irregular schedules.
