About
Fairbourne Beach is situated on the Mawddach Estuary, opposite Barmouth, on the west coast of Wales. It is nestled between the mountains of Snowdonia National Park and the Irish Sea.
Dog Access and Rules
Fairbourne Beach has seasonal restrictions. Dogs are not allowed on the main beach between the 1st of April and the 30th of September. However, this is roughly the middle third, where it is most built up, so you have some beach all year round.
Things To See & Do
The beach is a 5 km stretch of sand backed by a large embankment of pebbles. At the north end of the beach, you have the Mawddach Estuary, while cliffs back the south.
Fairbourne Beach is perfect for an active day out with your dog. You can enjoy long beach walks or let your dog run and play. The beach has plenty of room, although it is restricted during the peak summer.
A must-do activity is the Fairbourne Railway, a miniature steam railway with fantastic views from the beach along the estuary to the nearby village. Dogs are allowed on the train, although not in the cafe, and you can catch the ferry to Barmouth.
Access and Facilities
Fairbourne is easily accessible by both car and public transport. For those driving, parking is available near the beach. If you prefer public transport, Fairbourne has a train station. From the station, it’s just a short walk to the beach.
You can also come from Barmouth via the ferry and then Fairbourne Railway.
