About
Nestled on the sheltered south coast of the Llyn Peninsula, Llanbedrog Beach is one of North Wales’ gems. Famous for its colourful beach huts and stunning views across Cardigan Bay, this peaceful beach is perfect for dog owners looking for a relaxing day by the sea. Whether you’re in the mood for a quiet stroll along the sand or a more energetic coastal walk, Llanbedrog Beach offers a warm and welcoming environment.
Dog Access and Rules
Llanbedrog Beach is a fantastic spot for dogs, but there are some seasonal restrictions. From 1 April to 30 September, dogs must be kept on a lead on the main beach until the end of the beach huts. Beyond the huts, they can run off lead all year round.
Things To See & Do
Llanbedrog Beach is just a short drive from the popular seaside town of Abersoch. The beach is backed by National Trust-managed woodlands and hills, which offer breathtaking walks with views over the coast. The beach stretches out with sands sheltered by the dramatic backdrop of Mynydd Tir-y-Cwmwd.
Historically, Llanbedrog was a small fishing village, and the beach has always played an essential role in the local community. Today, it’s known for its iconic beach huts, which add a splash of colour to the shoreline and are a much-loved feature for visitors. The National Trust now manages the beach, ensuring it remains a protected and well-maintained haven.
Want something more than just the beach? You can take the Llanbedrog Headland Walk, a scenic coastal trail that leads you and your dog up the Mynydd Tir-y-Cwmwd hill. The path offers panoramic views across Cardigan Bay and out towards Snowdonia.
Access and Facilities
Llanbedrog Beach is easy to reach by car, and parking is available close to the beach. A National Trust car park (free for members) gives easy access to the beach and surrounding woodlands.
Public transport is also an option for those who don’t drive. Local buses connect Llanbedrog with Pwllheli and Abersoch, making it a convenient day trip destination.
There are public toilets close to the beach, and during the summer, a cafe serves up refreshments, making it a great place to grab a coffee or an ice cream after your walk.
The colourful beach huts, available for hire, add a unique charm and provide shelter from the sun or rain.
