About
If you and your dog love exploring beaches and coastal paths with stunning views, Penmon Point on the Isle of Anglesey is the perfect destination.
One of its most iconic features is Penmon Lighthouse overlooking Puffin Island, built-in 1838 to mark the north entrance to the Menai Strait. On a clear day, you can see as far as the Great Orme and even spot Snowdonia’s peaks in the distance.
Dog Access and Rules
Penmon Point is dog-friendly throughout the year! There are no restrictions, so you and your dog can enjoy exploring Penmon Point Beach, the grassy areas, and the surrounding paths. As always, keeping your dog under control and cleaning up after them is essential to help maintain this beautiful spot for everyone to enjoy.
Things To See & Do
There are plenty of dog-friendly activities to enjoy at Penmon Point. You can enjoy a walk and play along the beach, where your dog will love sniffing around the rock pools. You must be careful as the beach is unsuitable for swimming due to strong currents. You also have grassy areas ideal for playing fetch or enjoying fresh sea air.
For those who love longer walks, the Wales Coast Path passes through the area, offering stunning views and the chance to explore more of Anglesey’s dramatic coastline. Keep an eye out for local wildlife, as seals are often seen in the water, and if you’re lucky, you might spot dolphins too!
Access and Facilities
Penmon Point is easily accessible by car. It’s just a short drive from Beaumaris, following signs for Penmon Priory and Penmon Point. There is a small toll charge for access to the area, which helps maintain the site. Parking is available near the beach and cafe.
The nearby Pilot House Cafe offers a welcoming spot to refuel. Its dog-friendly outdoor seating makes it a great place to relax with your dog after a walk.
