About
Bembridge and Culver Downs sit above high chalk cliffs overlooking Sandown Bay and Bembridge. Dogs are welcome across the downs, although you must keep your dog under control and on a short lead around livestock.
Bembridge Down has the remains of 19th-century and First-World War fortifications and gun emplacements, which took advantage of the high and prominent position of the headland.
There are many options to walk with your dog with trails along the cliffs or across open downland. Wherever you are, you will have great views: to the south, over Sandown and Shanklin, and to the north, over Bembridge Harbour to the Solent and on a clear day, you may even catch sight of the Spinnaker Tower at Portsmouth.
Walks can include a drop down onto the beaches below the cliffs or include Bembridge to the North or Sandown to the South.
There are multiple free car parks in the downland and fort areas.
