About
Samphire Hoe, located at the foot of the iconic White Cliffs of Dover in Kent, is a stunning manmade nature reserve created from the material excavated during the construction of the Channel Tunnel. Here’s what you can expect when visiting Samphire Hoe Park with your dog:
Dog Access and Rules
At Samphire Hoe, dogs are allowed on the park and beach but must be kept on a lead at all times, as you have plenty of wildlife and livestock roaming freely.
Things To See & Do
It is located at the base of Dover’s white cliffs and was created with almost 5 million cubic metres of spoil extracted from the tunnels, reclaiming some 45 hectares (111 acres) from the English Channel.
Samphire Hoe provides various habitats to many wildlife species and is surrounded by the sea on one side and cliffs on the other. You can discover and enjoy a wide range of wildlife all year round.
A network of footpaths and the sea wall allows you and your four-legged friend to walk around the Hoe and explore the wildlife. A full circuit will be just over 2 kilometres.
You can also explore the pebble beach under the white cliffs.
Access and Facilities
You access Samphire Hoe through a traffic-light-controlled tunnel in the cliff to a pay-and-display car park. The park has a small information centre, toilets, picnic areas and a seasonal kiosk.
The park is only open during the day and has no access at night.
