They are not permitted inside the tower or the interior of any partially intact structures, but this is a minor restriction on a site where the best experience is enjoyed outdoors anyway.
It is worth keeping dogs on a lead at all times, both as a courtesy to other visitors and because the grounds contain uneven stones, steps, and historic features that require attention. The terrain is generally even and well-maintained, though there are uneven historic stones and some slight slopes.
