Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are very welcome at Castle Howard but must always be kept on a short lead.
Dogs are welcome in the cafes’ outdoor seating areas, and water bowls are provided. Well-behaved dogs are also welcome inside our Coffee Shop, Farm Shop, Fitzroy Cafe, Boathouse Cafe, and Courtyard Cafe.
Dogs are not permitted except for assistance dogs in the Adventure Playground, Land Train, or in the House.

This magnificent estate, one of England’s grandest, is set amidst the stunning Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Built in the early 18th century, Castle Howard has been the home of the Howard family for over 300 years. Its Baroque architecture, designed by Sir John Vanbrugh, is complemented by extensive gardens and grounds, including temples, lakes, and fountains.
Castle Howard offers a plethora of activities for you and your dog to enjoy:

You may well recognise the house and estate as it is often used as a film location.
Access and Facilities
Castle Howard is just 15 miles Northeast of York and is easily accessible. Located near the A64, it is well-signposted and offers ample parking. There are bus services from York to Castle Howard, making it accessible even if you’re not driving.
Several cafes and restaurants on the estate offer a variety of food and drinks. A few offer indoor seating options and many have outdoor seating areas where you can dine with your dog nearby.
