About
Yorkshire Air Museum and the Allied Air Forces Memorial is a large museum of aviation that sits on the former site of RAF Elvington in North Yorkshire on the outskirts of York. This airfield was used extensively by Allied bomber crews during World War II.
The museum is a registered charity dedicated to the history of aviation which was also set up as a Memorial to all allied air forces personnel, particularly those who served in the Royal Air Force during WWII.
Authentically based on an original World War II Bomber Command Station, a visit to the museum will take you around a combination of original buildings, including the restored Control Tower and more than forty aircraft exhibits, from early aviation biplanes, our Halifax Bomber “Friday The 13th” all the way to modern Cold War military jets such as the Victor, Nimrod and Tornado jet fighters.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome, although dogs are not allowed in the café.
