Dog Access and Rules
At East Quantoxhead Beach, dogs are welcome year-round, making it a perfect destination for a day out with your canine companion. While there are no strict lead rules, keeping your dog under control, especially near the cliffs, is a good idea.
What's On Offer
East Quantoxhead Beach is located along Somerset’s Jurassic Coast and is known for its geological significance and breathtaking landscapes. The village of East Quantoxhead, just a short walk from the beach, dates back to medieval times and retains much of its old-world charm. The beach is a mix of rocky outcrops and shingle, framed by striking limestone cliffs that tell a story of millions of years of Earth’s history. Fossils are often found on the shore and near the cliffs, making it a fascinating destination for geology enthusiasts. Just be careful, as the cliffs can be unstable.
The beach is rocky and best visited during low tide, when more of it is accessible. When the tide is out, it is possible to walk along the beach to Kilve.
You can stroll along the shoreline with your dog, happily sniffing around the rock pools. If you’re feeling adventurous, try fossil hunting, although be mindful of your dog around the rocks. On calmer days, you can even let your dog splash in the shallow waters of the Bristol Channel.
