Blue Anchor Beach is between Minehead and Watchet and offers a peaceful retreat away from the busier tourist spots. The beach stretches for over a mile and is bordered by the Quantock Hills’ picturesque cliffs and Exmoor National Park’s rolling countryside. Its unique geology, with red and grey sandstone layers, makes it an exciting spot for fossil hunting and rock pooling.
This stretch of coast between Blue Anchor and Lilstock is a 742.8-hectare geological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). If you want a long dog walk, a sand/gravel path westwards to Dunster and Minehead is at the top of the beach.
