About
Visiting Worm’s Head near Rhossili with your dog is a wonderful adventure! Located on the breathtaking Gower Peninsula in South Wales, Worm’s Head is a unique tidal island that offers stunning coastal views, making it a perfect spot for dog owners who love exploring nature.
Things To See & Do
Worm’s Head is a tidal island that can only be accessed during low tide, so planning your visit around a few hours on either side of low tide is essential. It’s connected to the mainland by a rocky causeway (see picture above), which becomes submerged at high tide. The walk out to the island is an exciting and scenic experience, but it can be a bit challenging with uneven, rocky terrain, so suitable footwear is advised, and your dog may struggle on the surface.
Once on the island, your dog will love the adventure of navigating the rocks and paths of Worm’s Head. The open space is perfect for a good run, and the island is home to various wildlife, including seals, seabirds, and sometimes dolphins, which you might spot if you’re lucky. Just be mindful of keeping your dog close, as cliffs and rocky areas exist along with wildlife.
