Whitley Bay has a few beach options. The main Whitley Bay Beach is a long sand strip stretching from Whitley Bay North towards St Mary’s Lighthouse. The promenade and links are popular with walkers. Dog restrictions are in place on Whitley Bay Beach from May 1 to September 30, although dogs can be walked all year round on the section north of Panama Gardens.

To the south, you head away towards Tynemouth with first the small Cullercoats Beach and then Longsands Beach which as the name suggests, is a long stretch of golden sand.  Cullercoats Beach has a seasonal dog ban between 1st May and  30th of September and although Longsands also has the same seasonal ban the northern section does allow dogs all year.

Facilities include parking, toilets, cafes, restaurants and promenade.
