About
Visiting Longsands Beach in Tynemouth with your dog is a great choice for a day out. Longsands is known for its long, golden sandy beach, popular among surfers, families, and dog walkers. It provides a picturesque setting with expansive views of the North Sea, making it perfect for leisurely walks or more energetic activities.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are welcome on Longsands Beach, but there are seasonal restrictions to be aware of. Dogs are allowed on the northern end of Tynemouth Longsands, towards Cullercoats all year round but the southern end does not allow dogs from May 1st to September 30th.
Things To See & Do
Longsands Beach offers ample space for dogs to run and play, especially during low tide when the beach is most extensive. The beach is also a popular spot for surfing and other watersports, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.
Beyond the beach, the Tynemouth area offers coastal walks and historic sites like Tynemouth Priory, where dogs are allowed on leads in the outdoor areas.
Access and Facilities
There is ample parking available near the beach, including a large car park accessible from Grand Parade. During peak times, especially in summer, arriving early in the day can help secure a parking spot closer to the beach.
Facilities include toilets and a cafe although more available in Tynemouth itself.
