About
If you enjoy remote, natural walks, Taynish is ideal. Park in a small car park, then enter mature oak woodland that’s lasted 6,000 years. Trails are mostly clear and marked, with easy and rougher paths, so you can match the route to your dog’s energy. The woods, shore and glades keep it interesting for dogs.
Wildlife is a big reason to visit. You might see butterflies and dragonflies in the grass, and maybe otters, seals, or eagles by the water.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are welcome at Taynish. As it is a protected nature reserve, visitors share responsibility for defending this landscape.
Keep your dog under close control and on a lead at all times, especially in spring and early summer. This protects nesting birds, red squirrels, and other wildlife that live here and deserve space.
These guidelines help ensure a positive experience for all.
Access and Facilities
Taynish sits on the Knapdale peninsula, reached via Tayvallich village. There is a small car park and picnic spots, but no cafe or toilets (facilities are in Tayvallich). Waymarked trails and leaflets help you pick a walk based on your time and fitness.
