About
Nestled in the rolling hills of Buckinghamshire, Brill Common is a picturesque, dog-friendly destination offering breathtaking views, open spaces, and a slice of history.
Dog Access and Rules
Brill Common is open to dogs year-round, making it a great destination no matter the season, although dogs are not allowed inside the windmill. The large, open spaces provide plenty of room for your dog to run and play. However, as it’s a shared public space, keeping dogs under control and on a lead near the roads or livestock is essential, particularly during spring lambing season.
Dog waste bins are conveniently located around the village, so cleaning up after your dog is easy.
Things To See & Do
Brill Common is a true gem of the Buckinghamshire countryside. It’s best known for the historic Brill Windmill, a Grade II-listed building dating back to the 17th century. This beautifully preserved windmill adds a touch of charm to the stunning natural surroundings and serves as an excellent backdrop for photos.
The common is a large, open grassland area with gentle hills offering panoramic views over the Buckinghamshire countryside. On a clear day, you can see for miles, making it a favourite spot for walkers. The village of Brill, which borders the common, is full of character, with its quaint cottages and traditional dog-friendly pubs.
Adjacent to Brill Common is The Walks, which should be on your visit list. It consists of mature trees and a pond and is classified as a Village Green.
Access and Facilities
Brill is about 12 miles from Aylesbury and 8 miles from Bicester. Parking is available in the village near the common, though spaces can fill up on sunny weekends.
