About
Chorleywood Common is a 76-hectare mix of woodland, grassland, and ponds, providing an excellent location for dog walks. Its biodiversity, including butterflies, birds, and rare plants, makes it a haven for wildlife.
The common is large, and you can plan a full circular walk or just wander along the well-marked walking paths through open fields and shady woodlands. The various routes ensure you can pick a short stroll or a longer walk to suit your energy levels.
Dog Access and Rules
Dogs are welcome year-round at Chorleywood Common. However, as a shared space used by walkers, cyclists, and wildlife enthusiasts, it’s important to keep dogs under control, especially near wildlife habitats. During nesting seasons all dogs should be kept on a short, 2m long lead during the period 1 March to 31 July inclusive.
Access and Facilities
Chorleywood Common is easily accessible via the M25, with parking available nearby. Chorleywood station, on the Metropolitan line and Chiltern Railways, is a short walk from the common, making it convenient for visitors travelling by train.
Parking is available around the common with the main car parks on Common Road, Rickmansworth Road, and Chorleywood Btm. While there aren’t toilets on the common, nearby cafes, pubs, and the village centre offer facilities and refreshments.
