The site is rich in history and incredibly welcoming to dogs, making it a perfect destination for dog lovers.
Dog Access and Rules
Dinefwr is dog-friendly, with dogs welcome in the expansive grounds and gardens as long as they’re kept on a lead. Dogs are not allowed inside the mansion or deer park, but there’s more than enough to explore outdoors with your furry friend.
Things To See & Do
Dinefwr House is located near Llandeilo in Carmarthenshire. The 800-acre estate dates back over 2,000 years, with its roots in the medieval Dinefwr Castle, which sits on a hill overlooking the River Tywi.
The manor house you see today was built in the 17th century and later remodelled in the 18th century. The surrounding landscape was designed by the famous landscape architect Capability Brown.
Many dog walks through the woodland paths, which offer plenty of opportunities for you and your dog to stretch your legs. The views are spectacular, especially as you approach the ruins of Dinefwr Castle. Although dogs aren’t allowed inside the house, you can explore the wider estate and the castle ruins.
Access and Facilities
Dinefwr is located just outside the town of Llandeilo and is easily accessible by car. Parking is available on-site. If you’re coming by public transport, the Llandeilo train station is nearby, and from there, there is a short taxi ride to the estate.
There’s a cafe where you can grab a bite to eat, and outdoor seating is dog-friendly, so you can relax with your dog by your side.
