About
Daymer Bay is one of those beaches where everything seems a bit easier.
Set at the mouth of the Camel Estuary, just across from Padstow, it’s a wide, sandy bay backed by soft dunes and watched over by the gentle ascent of Brea Hill. The water here is calmer than many North Cornwall beaches, giving it a more relaxed, almost sheltered feel.
At low tide, the beach opens up beautifully. You can walk for ages along firm sand, all the way towards Rock, with space stretching out in every direction.
It’s the kind of spot where you arrive thinking you’ll stay an hour… and somehow end up spending the whole day.
Daymer Bay is one of those rare beaches where you don’t have to think too hard. No checking the time for dog restrictions. or tides.
Dog Access and Rules
This is where Daymer Bay really shines. Dogs are welcome year-round, with no seasonal restrictions.
A few reminders (the kind we all appreciate):
- Keep your dog under control, especially near busy areas.
- Be mindful around the dunes and wildlife.
- Always clean up after your dog.
Because it’s such a popular dog beach, you’ll often meet plenty of other dogs along the way, which can be part of the fun if your dog enjoys a social stroll.
Things To See & Do
Located within the Camel Estuary, with rock pools to the north of the bay, this beach becomes a dream for walking at low tide. The sand is firm, the space is huge, and at low tide, the sand stretches south to Rock.
Wide open space, soft sand, and shallow water, perfect for a good run and a splash.
If you fancy a change of pace, head up Brea Hill. It’s an easy climb with incredible views across the estuary.
You can link Daymer Bay into longer walks towards Polzeath or Rock, with ever-changing views and plenty of sniffing opportunities along the way.
Access and Facilities
Daymer Bay strikes a lovely balance — natural, but still easy.
Access is just a short walk from the car park via steps and sandy paths, generally easier than some of the nearby, more rugged coves.
Facilities include Public toilets near the car park and a small shop for snacks and essentials. Cafes and pubs are a short drive away in Rock or Polzeath.
