Lusty Glaze is a small, sheltered sandy cove just outside Newquay. Unlike the larger and busier beaches nearby, it has a more intimate feel, with good facilities set directly on the sand.
Because the beach is privately owned, everything tends to feel well-maintained and a little more organised than at many public beaches. Once you reach the sand, it’s usually calm and self-contained, with the cliffs creating a sense of shelter from the wider coastline.
Dog Access and Rules
Lusty Glaze generally welcomes dogs year-round. Because the beach is privately owned, access rules can occasionally change, particularly during events, so it’s worth checking the signs at the entrance before heading down.
There are no fixed lead rules, but dogs should be kept under control, especially during busier periods and near swimmers and surfers.
The beach’s smaller size can make it feel busy at times, but quieter visits are usually easy outside peak hours.
Things To See & Do
Because Lusty Glaze is a smaller cove, it works best as a relaxed beach visit rather than a long-distance walk. It’s an easy place to slow down, spend time on the sand, and enjoy the sea with your dog.
Dogs that enjoy exploring will find plenty of interest:

The main thing to plan for is access. The beach is reached via around 133 steep steps, with no ramp or lift, so it’s worth keeping the climb back up in mind when you arrive.
Facilities include car parking, seasonal lifeguards, a restaurant/cafe, an activity centre, a shop, a takeaway, a hire shop, a surf school, toilets, showers, beach huts, and a private area.
